National Cheese Day – June 4th! Let’s celebrate!

“How can anyone govern a nation that has two hundred and forty-six different kinds of cheese?” Charles de Gaulle.

Worldwide, they estimate over 1800 varieties of cheese. From mild cheese like Havarti and Mozzarella to Sharp cheeses such as aged Cheddar and Swiss, to stinky cheeses we all love – Blue and Camembert. There is cheese made from cows, goats, sheep, and even yaks and donkeys. It is also one of the most versatile ingredients you can use. You can slice it with bread or crackers, melt it for fondue, or add sugar and vanilla to it and make a cheesecake. It can be the main part of your meal, take your meal to the next level, be used as a side, or a dessert. Ooey, gooey, creamy, you can’t go wrong with cheese.

Modern Plate would encourage you to celebrate this wonderful day with us. Try one of our cheesy side dishes, Au Gratin Potatoes or Extra Cheesy Mac N’ Cheese. Or one of our main dishes, where cheese shines, like our Caprese Chicken Breast, Pesto Zoodles, and Cauliflower Au Gratin, or our White Lasagna and Garlic Bread.

As an anonymous wise man once said, “You Can’t Make Everyone Happy. You’re Not Cheese.”
